Why is Kindermusik the BEST choice for my child?
Kindermusik
introduces your child to the joy and adventure of music and

My child and I have a
lot of fun in Kindermusik class, but sometimes I wonder...is
she really learning anything about music?
To the casual observer, it
might indeed look like we are just playing and having a
great time. While our approach is playful and fun, every
aspect of the Kindermusik curriculum is built upon a solid
musical and developmental foundation. While playing and
singing, children are improving their rhythmic competency,
developing a sense of steady beat, achieving the ability to
match pitches, becoming acquainted with timbre, learning a
repertoire of songs, experiencing many different
instruments, increasing their ability to listen, and of
course, gaining a love of music that will last throughout
their life.

How can young
BABIES really benefit from their own music class?
We’ve learned
that infants are born with billions of nerve cells and a
nearly unlimited potential for connections between those
nerve cells. Every time an infant has a sensory experience,
neural pathways are formed. The greater the number of neural
pathways, the greater the brain power. Rich sensory
environments are vital to the brain development of infants.
In a Village class, we dance in a social setting to allow
infants to understand and anticipate patterns, which preps
their brains for math and musical theory. We play with
steady beat, which underlies our ability to pick up the
pattern of language. This is vital, because unless children
can pick up the language patterns, they cannot learn to read
and write. The bonding and comforting activities we show you
in class help you and baby to work through all the natural
stresses that occur with growing and developing. Music
increases coordination and balance, promotes literacy and
language, cultivates listening skills, and encourages
delightful and rewarding interaction with your baby!

5) My
child loves Kindermusik class and sings all of the songs and
does all of the activities at home, but when we are in
class, he just sits there. Is this okay?
Not to worry!
He is learning even though YOU don’t see him participating.
Pushing children to perform has no place in an Early
Childhood program of any kind. We believe that you – the
parent – is the child’s most important teacher, and home is
the most important place for that learning to grow.
When you stop and think about it, you already know that
success should be measured more by what a child does all the
rest of the week than what he does in the 45 minutes at
Kindermusik class. And remember, Kindermusik is about
process, not performance. Every child can be successful in a
Kindermusik class, not matter what developmental level he is
on. So have a blast dancing, singing, and playing
instruments together at home the way we do in class! Before
you know it, the same thing will happen at the studio.

I feel my child is ready for private instrument instruction
NOW. Why should I choose Kindermusik over private lessons?
Young
Child uses “real instruments”, like an accurately pitched
glockenspiel, a dulcimer and recorder. Using the principles
of Suzuki, Kodaly, Dalcroze and Orff, students explore many
facets of the musical experience-speaking, singing, moving,
dancing, listening, creating and playing instruments, as
well as learning to read and write music. Young Child helps
every child develop a confident, joyful voice for singing
and speaking as well as essential building blocks for a
future of learning.
Kindermusik Educators who are also private piano teachers
tell us those children who begin lessons much before 7 or 8
are not any farther ahead of the child who begins at a later
age. Kindermusik is foundational to ALL the activities your
child will want to do – soccer, private music lessons,
reading, math, making friends and more!

Can I bring siblings to class?
At The Musik Nest, we make
every effort to accommodate families regardless of
sibling/sitter needs. We welcome infants in Baby Bjorn’s or
car seats, who are up to 10-months old, to join their older
siblings class at NO CHARGE. Due to space
considerations and unique class settings during each
Kindermusik class, and in order to be fair to the other
families enrolled, there is a $12.00 per class fee
for siblings and/or friends of your child who come to visit
a class. All siblings are welcome to join our Imagine That!
and Young Child classes during the “Family Sharing Time” at
the end of each class.

Can I Preview a class BEFORE I join?
YES. In fact, we
encourage this! Coming to a free preview class is an
excellent way for you and your child to experience a class
and to see what Kindermusik is all about. It is a great way
to meet the teacher and see the teaching style of the
teacher, and to experience the activities we enjoy in class.

Can I enroll my child in a class at anytime?
Absolutely! Our classes are structured so you can join an
ongoing class at anytime. If you enroll after a session has
begun, your tuition will be prorated.

Is there a sibling discount?
Yes! The first child will
pay full tuition and materials fees. All additional children
will receive $20.00 off the total tuition, $10.00 off the
total tuition for our 5-week spring & summer classes, and
50% discount on materials if children are in the same class.
If children are in different classes/subjects, full
materials fee will be required for both.

What is your snow/inclement weather policy?
If Issaquah school district
is closed due to snow, ice, wind or rain, then we are closed. If
schools are open or running late, classes will be operating
on schedule. We will always leave a message on our voice
mail and on our web page specifying if we are closed. You can also
visit
www.schoolreport.org or tune into the local morning
news. Because of the nature of our class session schedule,
if a class is cancelled due to inclement weather, a make-up
class will be made available to you. There are no refunds or
credits for classes cancelled due to inclement weather.

12) What is your Make-up
policy?
In the event that you miss a class during a session, as a
courtesy we offer up to three scheduled make-up classes per
session.
Make-ups are subject to availability and must also be
scheduled within your current session. Because make-ups are
available on a space permitting basis, we cannot guarantee
make-ups, as we will not overcrowd our classes. We will
however make every effort to accommodate your scheduling
needs and find the best space for you. There are no refunds,
substitutions, or credits for missed classes.

What is
your refund policy?
Like other
activities your child is enrolled in, whether swimming,
dance or sports, when you register we reserve a space in
the class for your child for the entire session. As classes
have a maximum number of children we can accept, we
unfortunately have to turn away families as your space
is reserved for your child, and we will not give it
away nor overcrowd our classes.
Because we are a small, locally owned business,
cancellations greatly affect us.
Therefore, once the session begins there are no refunds.
However we will gladly issue you a pro-rated credit (less
materials) towards a future
session if you need to cancel after the session begins.
Should a withdrawal become necessary prior to the beginning
of the session, a full class credit or a refund will be
given less a $35.00 processing fee.
We
recognize unexpected circumstances come up, and we will
always do our best to accommodate you. What is MOST
important to us is that your experience with is the BEST!
