rebecca_1Miss Rebecca Heib – Owner/Director, Licensed Music Educator

Miss Rebecca began singing, dancing and performing before she could even talk. She grew up in very a musical family — her father was a professional dancer and teacher, and her grandmother was a concert pianist. She played violin for 20-years, studied voice and has performed as a soloist, and was actively involved in musical and dramatic productions throughout her youth. Following in her father’s footsteps, Rebecca has a passion for dancing and began early in her childhood with many Ballet, Modern, and Jazz dance classes at Spectrum Dance Company and Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA.

Along with her musical training, Rebecca truly enjoys interacting with children and loves how music reaches every child’s learning style. She has over 25-years of experience working with all ages of children and their families, both in a classroom setting as well as a professional nanny in a home setting. Rebecca has worked as an instructor in the Bellevue College Parent Education Program and has been a public speaker and educator for many parenting groups including P.E.P.S, Mothers and More and M.O.P.S. Rebecca has also spent the last 20-years teaching music & movement classes to young children at local preschools, elementary schools, and Montessori schools.

Miss Rebecca is passionate about sharing her love of music and her passion for education…and can’t wait to engage your child in the rich musical activities, as well as help educate parents on the immeasurable value of early musical exposure. ” I truly love the wonder, curiosity and enthusiasm of children and I am so thankful that everyday I witness firsthand how the power of music brings out the smiles, the giggles, the love, the learning, and the joy between the parents and children. And I look forward to sharing the wonderful gift of music with you too!”

Miss Emily Whelan – Licensed Music Educator

Emily Whelan holds a Music Performance degree and has enjoyed an international music career – performing and teaching professionally in the US, Australia, and Asia for 20 years.
In Australia she was a regular performer with such organizations as the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera Queensland, and Opera Australia. Along with her Mainstage repertoire at Opera Australia, she also worked with their celebrated outreach programs—bringing live performances to over 70,000 School children each year. In Singapore, Miss Emily started a private voice studio and taught music for babies and children through an Australian-based program called Mini Maestros. She conducted various choirs throughout the island, including one near and dear to her heart—Numama—a choir for moms and their babies. She also had the opportunity to work extensively coaching and teaching grades K-8 at Stamford American International School of Singapore.
Emily moved to Washington in 2015, with her husband and their three children, aged 12, 14, and 16. In the years since the birth of her own children, she has moved away from performing, and become increasingly interested in bringing music education and performance opportunities into the lives of young people. She is looking forward to sharing her varied experiences and love of music with all of us here at The Musik Nest.
